Kitty creates a light-hearted and loving space in which students are encouraged to explore and experience the practice of Kundalini Yoga. KY yoga combines the yogic elements of prana, apana, mantras, mudras, bhandas, asanas, kriyas, and pranayama. Kitty clearly explains which elements each exercise addresses and through demonstration, sensitive cuing, and feedback guides the class through a beautiful and holistic session. As an accomplished musician, she incorporates the sessions with live music and chanting, offering students the added benefit of resonating sound and energy in a way that nourishes and stimulates the body’s systems to create a harmonious state of well being. |
~ Kundalini Yoga as Taught By Yogi Bhajan™ ~
Yoga has dozens of variations in philosophy and style. Some yogas (like Bikram) are structured as a physical workout. Others (like Jivamukti) put an emphasis on meditation. Kundalini Yoga is a little of both, but with an added emphasis on consciousness that activates energy centers throughout the body. Kundalini class can be a good workout, but its teachers and students (often cover their heads with white turbans) participate in each kriya with a quiet reverence more akin to a temple than a gym. If you like your physical exercise to come with a side of spiritual enlightenment, Kundalini Yoga might be for you. In fact it is often framed by its practitioners as the "next step" or they are looking for something more spiritual.
“The primary objective [of Kundalini] is to awaken the full potential of human awareness in each individual; that is, recognize our awareness, refine that awareness, and expand that awareness to our unlimited Self. Clear any inner duality, create the power to deeply listen, cultivate inner stillness, and prosper and deliver excellence in all that we do.”
